graduated at University of Papua
New Guinea with Bachelor of Laws
degree with Honors-LLB (Hons)
and Master of laws Degree –LLM,
with University of the South
Pacific, specializing in commercial law. He went on to
graduate from International Consortium for Law and
(ICLAD) with Postgraduate certificate in Legislative drafting
for good governance.
Brief Background
He began his career as a Assistant Lecturer in law with the
School of Finance, Solomon Islands College of Higher
Education. The civil unrest in the Solomon brought him back
to Papua New Guinea as Jnr associate with Paul Paraka
lawyers in Port Moresby. He then moved on to become the
senior legal officer and Public Prosecutor with the Justice
Department, Republic of Nauru. On occasions became an
Acting Attorney General/Director of Public Prosecutions in
absence of the Attorney General. Removing the Republic of
Nauru from the FATF and OECD black list on Tax havens
and financing of terrorism was one of the major
achievements.
Drafting of Anti-Money laundering and Banking legislation
were some of the Major legislations undertaken.
After Nauru, he became an Assistant Attorney
General with the Attorney General’s Chambers,
Republic of Marshall Islands. Legal Drafting to Court
room litigation were the tasks undertaken. On various
occasions in the absence of the Attorney General he
took on the responsibilities of that role, acting as
Attorney General for Marshall Islands. Having passed
the Marshall Islands Bar Examination and having
entitled to practice without restriction, he moved to
Majuro Local Government as their legal/corporate
counsel
Besides being an active legal practitioner he tutored
students studying their Law Degrees through the
University of the South Pacific Majuro Centre. He
also was an adjunct instructor of Business law, faculty
of business studies, College of Marshall Islands.

Whitlam Khalegedi admitted as Barrister and Solicitor
before the Courts of Papua New Guinea, Republic of
Nauru, and Solomon Islands. He is admitted as
Attorney at law in the Republic of Marshall Islands.
He is currently an active Practitioner without
restriction in the Marshall Islands and Solomon
Islands.
