PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT and COMPANIES

The Mining industry is a complex industry. It involves high risk investment from investors and a lot of
agreements to be negotiated. The Provincial Government represents the particular Island Province.
The Provincial government in order to represent it’s Island must need to know the powers it have.

1. The Provincial government has a representative on the Mines and Minerals Board of Directors.

2. The Provincial government has the power to license trades and businesses or professions within its
jurisdiction.

3.  It can raise revenue through basic rates and property tax.

4.  Agriculture and related environmental issues.

Know the powers you have. Negotiate Smartly. Provincial Government do not have any opportunity
to negotiate with either the government, or mining company for sharing of production, revenues, profits
or in the equity capital of the mining company if a full scale mining development will take place.
